 March  2004

If you're coming from the Richmond District: Head toward downtown onto Oak Street at the Panhandle, go right on Divisadero, which becomes Castro, all the way down toward Market, turn right on States Street a half-block before you hit Market.  If you're coming north on 101 or west from the Bay Bridge: Take the Duboce Exit, wait ten minutes through traffic, go up DuBoce to Market, left onto Market, all the way to Castro. Right on Castro, left on States Street.
An alternative is to make a right onto Masonic from Oak Street, go all the way up Masonic to the very top, cross Upper Terrace, down to Roosevelt, immediate right from Roosevelt to Levant. Hard right on Levant without hitting an oncoming vehicle, left onto States. From the inner Mission: Make a left onto 16th Street, continue all the way past Market to Castro, then left down Castro, and an immediate right up States Street.
If you're coming from the Sunset, get on Portola toward downtown. Portola goes up past Twin Peaks and then down toward Market, with breath-taking views. If you don't see breath-taking views, you are not going down Portola, or you shouldn't even be in The City. Once you start going down Portola, past Diamond Heights Boulevard, make a left at the third light, which is Clayton, go up Clayton to 17th Street, right one block to Roosevelt, speed on Roosevelt for several blocks, until you see Levant on the right. Hard right on Levant without hitting an oncoming vehicle, left onto States all the way down to 141 States. From the outer Mission: You can take O'Shaunessy all the way to Portola, then follow the directions from the Sunset.

Or you can take San Jose Avenue, merge onto Guerrero, left at 16th, continue all the way past Market to Castro, then left down Castro, and an immediate right up States Street.
